About
The Words Aloud Festival sprang from Words Aloud, a Grey Bruce writer’s collective, a group of poets and poetry lovers dedicated to poetic performance as well as building a local audience for regional and nationally known writers. The first festival was founded in 2003. However, since 1999, collective members have produced and promoted over many events throughout the region, including staged readings in cafés, art galleries and at community events.
Words Aloud is a community effort, and is only possible thanks to a legion of volunteers, and the Artistic Directors, Carole Warren and Liz Zetlin, wish to thank this year’s great festival team: Diane Ferguson, C.A., C.F.O. • Mary MacCarl, Logistics Coordinator • Dyan Jones, Children's Program Coordinator • Kris Anderson, Slam Coordinator • Dianne Joyce, Performer Orientation • Randy Martin, Production Manager • Kirk Scott, Videographer • Ken Dow, Webmaster • Don Holman, Graphic Designer • Hazel Lyder, The Downtown Bookstore • Ilse Gassinger, Durham Art Gallery.
